In the latest episode of “Under the Influence,” artist, photographer, and architect Hiroshi Sugimoto stops by Artforum’s studios to discuss his admiration for the music of Mozart, how a Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition kick-started his career, and the observatory he’s building in Odawara, Japan.

Sugimoto has a solo exhibition on view at Winsing Arts Foundation in Taipei, Taiwan, from April 12 through August 31, 2025.
