Tony Oursler's 'Hypnose' at Musée d'arts de Nantes extended until March 2021

As part of Musée d’arts de Nantes’ exhibition ‘Hypnose’, Tony Oursler takes over the Chapelle de l’Oratoire with an immersive, site-specific installation. Adding a contemporary edge to the exhibition’s journey into a history of hypnosis and art, Oursler invites viewers to consider the relationship of current anxieties around digital technologies to the diverse material on display from the visual culture of the 18th century to the present day. ‘Hypnose’ mines the conjunction between art, science and popular culture and brings together elements of painting, sculpture, film, and performance - a hybridity that complements the American artist’s multimedia and film-based practice. Ever fascinated with the optical histories of technology and their place in the cultural imagination, Oursler conjures the spectres of the past in a luminescent spectacle of the current day.

The run of ‘Hypnose’ has been extended and is now due to close on 14 March 2021.
