'Tatsuo Miyajima: Endless Life Cycles' at TAO Art Space, Taipei, Taiwan
27 October 2025
From 22 October 2025 — 7 February 2026, TAO ART Space will present 'Endless Life Cycles', the first solo exhibition in Taiwan by Tatsuo Miyajima. Internationally acclaimed for his LED number installations and technologically-driven sculptures, Miyajima has spent decades transforming numbers into profound philosophical symbols of life, time, space, and existence. This exhibition brings together twelve significant works created over the past five years, offering a deep exploration of his central themes.
In Miyajima’s work, numbers continuously loop—counting up from 1 to 9 or down from 9 to 1— representing a full cycle of life. The number 0 is always absent. Instead, the sequence pauses for a moment, a blackout that marks death and rebirth. This pause connects to Buddhist ideas of reincarnation.
