8 October 2020
Tatsuo Miyajima is currently the subject of a solo exhibition at the Chiba City Museum of Art in Tokyo. Chronicle: 1995 – 2020 explores 25 years of the Japaneses artist's work, including drawings, installations, performances and numerical LED works, or ‘gadgets’ as he calls them.
Numbers are at the heart of Miyajima’s practice. An international language, digits transcend cultures: “Whether applied to mathematics and physics, or language and daily activity, they play a central role in our lives and are understood by all” (Miyajima, 2015).
