Stanley Whitney reimagines Kendrick Lamar album artwork for Interscope Records 30th anniversary re-release

To mark its 30th anniversary, Interscope Records is re-releasing a selection of its groundbreaking recordings as limited-edition vinyl records, with artwork designed by contemporary artists. Artists Inspired by Music: Interscope Reimagined, features original works of visual art inspired by some of the label’s most iconic artists.
Beginning 27 January and running through 31 January exclusively on the livestream shopping app NTWRK, a total of 57 iconic Interscope albums, each bearing one of the original artworks will be made available in sets of 100 each. 100% of profits will go to the Iovine and Young Foundation which is building a school in South Los Angeles.
Among the invited artists was Stanley Whitney, who chose to reimagine the artwork for Kendrick Lamar's 2015 album To Pimp a Butterfly, inspired by the track 'King Kunta'.
Alongside this re-release, the original artworks will be presented in an exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) from 30 January to 13 February 2022.The exhibition includes over 50 works, providing a fresh perspective on influential music for the present moment.
