Opening this weekend at Château La Coste, France, Sean Scully presents 'STACK', a solo exhibition curated by Michel Gauthier. The presentation brings together the complete 'Stack' painting series, selected 'Cactus' paintings and 'Natured', a new series of drawings.

Over the course of five decades, Scully has shifted the paradigm of American abstraction towards an emotional form of painting, drawing on the metaphor and spirituality of the European tradition. Best known for his large-scale abstract paintings of vertical and horizontal bands, blocks and geometric forms, Scully has developed a distinctive visual language across painting, sculpture, printmaking, watercolour and pastel.
