Sean Scully 'Eleuthera' at The Albertina Museum, Vienna
3 June 2019
Sean Scully is known above all for his highly expressive abstract paintings of colorful stripes and lines. This exhibition of figurative works sheds light on an entirely new style and expression, although Scully's relationship with figuration is longstanding. The series Eleuthera from the years 2015-2017 revolves around a very private subject: Scully’s eight-year-old son playing at the beach on the island of Eleuthera. The exhibition will feature more than 20 large-format oil paintings, as well as a selection of smaller pastels, drawings, and photographic works. On view from 7 June until 8 September 2019.
