Sarah Cunningham included in The Artsy Vanguard list for 2023

British painter Sarah Cunningham has been included in The Artsy Vanguard 2023. Now in its sixth year, The Artsy Vanguard is Artsy's annual list of the most promising artists working today.

The 2023 edition is focused on 10 exceptional talents who span generations and geographies, mediums and messages. Their creations range from sensuous abstractions, to tender depictions of the natural world, to bold, narrative figuration. These artists deftly contend with the pressing concerns of our time, while dauntlessly pursuing the path of the contemporary artist. Through their work, we experience the potential for art to plumb the depths of human emotions, to offer catharsis amid trauma, and to summon beauty when it’s needed the most.

Cunningham's selection follows her first solo exhibition with Lisson Gallery, 'The Crystal Forest', which ran from 12 July to 26 August this year.
