'Richard Deacon: Range' at the Center for Openness and Dialogue, Tirana, Albania
19 November 2025
From 12 November – 12 December 2025, the Center for Openness and Dialogue (COD) in Tirana presents ‘Range’ a new exhibition of sculptures and works on paper by Richard Deacon.
‘Range’ brings together sculptures, drawings and lithographs created over more than two decades, from the early 2000s to 2023. The title refers both to the temporal breadth of this selection and to the artist’s belief that an exhibition’s narrative is never fixed. For Deacon, older and more recent works can continuously reconfigure their meaning when brought into new proximity, allowing forms, processes and materials to enter into dialogue across time.
In this sense, the term “range” evokes movement, variation and resonance, an open field of material and conceptual exploration. Across these different media, Deacon demonstrates that to fabricate is not merely to produce but to think through making. His works reveal the sculptural act as an evolving dialogue between the seen and the unseen, the tactile and the imagined. In 'Range', the visitor is invited to move through this landscape of processes, to experience the continuity between hand, thought and material, and to perceive in the visible structure of things the enduring poetry of fabrication.
