'Remote Viewing' featuring Susan Hiller at MoNTUE, the Museum of National Taipei University of Education, Taiwan

15 May 2026

Until 28 June, MoNTUE, the Museum of National Taipei University of Education presents 'Remote Viewing' featuring Susan Hiller.

'Remote Viewing' is understood as a conceptual framework for tracing how mind and perception are historically and technologically mediated. From the mid-twentieth-century expansion of broadcast infrastructures and satellite imaging to contemporary networked visual regimes, systems of vision have increasingly extended sight across distances while reorganizing attention, visual culture, and the very conditions of knowledge. The exhibition presents works by fourteen contemporary international artists who employ moving images to construct perceptual architectures, juxtaposed with historical artworks and archival materials. Within these artistic expressions, the screen functions as a psychic interface, reconfiguring our understanding of time, voice, and identity across distance.

Described as ‘cosmic story telling’, Susan Hiller's Resounding (Infrared) features audio transcriptions of the big bang, pulsars and plasma waves; a morse code message from a lucid dreaming experiment; static interference from radio and television programmes containing traces of the big bang; and the voices of individuals describing their experiences of unexplained visual phenomena, includings a series of eyewitness accounts of extra-terrestrial phenomena. Resounding (Infrared) brings together familiar themes of Hiller’s work that continue to question the mind’s construction of reality and the past. Through her use of traditional methods of archiving and collecting, Hiller builds further on this body of work, constructing a world of ideas and findings that becomes more substantial and fascinating with each layer of new research and its visual expression.
