Pedro Reyes's 'Doomocracy' continues until 6 November

21 October 2016

In an exciting collaboration with Creative Time, Pedro Reyes has taken over the Brooklyn Army Terminal to create Doomocracy, an immersive installation that marks the confluence of two events haunting the American cultural imagination: Halloween and the 2016 presidential election.

Curated by Nato Thompson and directed by Meghan Finn, Doomocracy forces us to confront the contemporary state of global and American politics, from the amount of surveillance we are willing to accept to corporate malfeasance and political catharsis. The artwork distils the horrors of the current political landscape into the form of a haunted house, inviting visitors to navigate a maze of near apocalyptic torments and confront issues of climate change, pandemic gun violence and GMOs. Visitors to Doomocracy will work their way through a labyrinth of rooms, exploring the depth and breadth of American political anxieties.

Concluding on 6 November, just days before the election, Doomocracy will occupy a vital moment in US history, offering the perfect platform and location to create real dialogue around the contemporary state of global and US politics. Doomocracy is free and open to the public, although tickets are limited and must be booked in advance.
