'Pedro Reyes: Amnesia Atómica' at Museo Anahuacalli, CDMX, Mexico
12 September 2024
On 12 September, the Museo Anahuacalli in Mexico City opens the exhibition 'AMNESIA ATÓMICA' by Pedro Reyes.
This exhibition comprises new and recent sculptures by Reyes that have developed out of his continued projects around nuclear disarmament, and interrogations into the role of artists in global anti-nuclear campaigns.
A new work, Pax Atomica (2023) is presented for the first time, featuring a bird cage built to the exact dimensions and shape of Little Boy – the first atomic bomb, used to destroy the city of Hiroshima. This piece takes on special importance in the main gallery of the Museo Anahuacalli, entering into dialogue with Diego Rivera’s sketch for his mural Pesadilla de guerra, sueño de paz, which can be found on the walls of the museum.
