'New Humans: Memories of the Future' featuring Lisson Artists at New Museum, New York, NY, USA
26 February 2026
From 21 March 2026, the New Museum presents 'New Humans: Memories of the Future' featuring Ryan Gander, Channa Horwitz and Tishan Hsu. The exhibition will be an exploration of artists’ enduring preoccupation with what it means to be human in the face of sweeping technological changes. New Humans will trace a diagonal history of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries through the work of more than 150 international artists, writers, scientists, architects, and filmmakers, highlighting key moments when dramatic technological and social changes spurred new conceptions of humanity and new visions for its possible futures.
The exhibition features Gander’s animatronic sculpture titled The Storyteller: The sense that you are a part of a flow of a thing (2025), in which a harvest mouse emerges from a hole in the wall to deliver a philosophical monologue in the voice of the artist’s daughter, reflecting on themes of identity, commodification, and possibility.
