MuBE in Sao Paulo opens solo exhibition by Tony Cragg
29 November 2019
Tony Cragg’s solo exhibition ‘Rare Species’ is now open at the Brazilian Museum of Culture and Ecology (MuBE) in Sao Paulo. Consisting of more than 40 works and several drawings from the past two decades, the exhibition highlights Cragg’s processes and methods of production.‘Rare species’ features recent works such as Parts of the World (2015) deriving from Cragg's ‘Early Forms’ series begun in the 1980s. These saw domestic items and vessels extended, unfolded and morphed into abstract shapes. This particular work, rendered in aluminium, developed through a further slicing and opening out of the form, causing the sculpture’s interior to also become exposed to the viewer.
'Rare Species' is on view until 1 March 2020. Find more information here.
Cragg's solo exhibition 'Stacks' at Lisson Gallery in London continues until 29 February 2020.
