12 June 2023
On Saturday 20 May, Lisson Gallery Los Angeles hosted a morning reception and special screening of the award-winning documentary on the life and legacy of Carmen Herrera, The 100 Years Show.
Marking Herrera's centenary in 2015, and directed by Alison Klayman, The 100 Years Show follows Herrera's working process and includes various interviews, featuring important contributions from Tony Bechara, Dana Miller, Olga Viso and Lisson Gallery founder, Nicholas Logsdail. Herrera recalls her youth in Cuba, her coming of age in Europe, and her battle for recognition in the male-dominated art world of 1950s New York.
The screening at Lisson Gallery was followed by a discussion with the film’s director, Alison Klayman, and Lisson Gallery Director Kaeli Deane, the recording of which you can now watch here.
