Lisson Gallery artists featured in Beano exhibition at Somerset House
16 November 2021
The beloved icon of British comics is the subject of a major exhibition at Somerset House, London, on view through 6 March 2022. The exhibition is curated by artist and lifelong Beano fan Andy Holden, who gathers today’s greatest creative rule-breakers, including writers, musicians, painters, sculptors and photographers to explore how the comics have inspired successive generations to break the rules and push boundaries. Works by Cory Arcangel, Ryan Gander and Richard Wentworth are included.
Each creative in the list of participants revels in their own spirit of rebellion. The exhibition also features Sarah Lucas, Hardeep Pandhal, Phyllida Barlow, pop star Chris Sievey (otherwise known by his alter-ego Frank Sidebottom), Martin Creed, Alex Chinneck, Heather Phillipson, Jann Haworth, Emma Hart, editorial cartoonist Martin Rowson, Rene Matić, Bedwyr Williams and many more.
