'Laure Prouvost: Nous, frissons d’étoiles' at Grand Palais, Paris, France

24 March 2026

From 10 June – 26 July, Grand Palais presents 'Laure Prouvost: Nous, frissons d’étoiles'. Drawing on two years of research using a quantum computer, the artist presents a multisensory installation. Featuring video, sounds and smells, the exhibition contemplates time and space.

The exhibiton begins with a question: "What would it feel like to perceive reality from a quantum point of view?" Theorized a century ago, quantum physics describes the behavior of matter at the atomic and particle level. To carry out this project, Laure Prouvost conducted two years of research with philosopher Tobias Rees and scientist Hartmut Neven. Using a powerful quantum computer, she created images and sounds that reflect the sensitive and unpredictable nature of these systems.

The artwork 'Nous, frissons d'étoiles' (We, Starry Shivers) takes the form of a monumental kinetic sculpture with six limbs that unfold in space. Animated by sound and light, it is simultaneously omnipresent and evanescent, imposing and fragile, cosmic and terrestrial. At its center, a video connects you to matter in all its forms. Around it, whimsical, meteorite-like elements evoke the phenomenon of entanglement. Some take the form of headphones, through which you can hear their voices and smell their metallic and mineral scent.

This exhibition is an adaptation of WE FELT A STAR DYING, a work commissioned by the LAS Art Foundation, with the contribution of the OGR of Turin in 2025.
