Laure Prouvost 'Mère We Sea' at Chapelle de la Vielle Charité, Marseille, France

2 April 2025

From 1 April – 11 January 2026, Chapelle de la Vielle Charité in Marseille will present works by Laure Prouvost.

Laure Prouvost will unveil a monumental installation resembling a maternal and fertile figure, summoning the memories of those who, throughout the last three centuries, have inhabited and brought this district in Marseille to life. The installation will involve a dream-like surprise with underwater influences, surrounded by aquatic reflections, which will involve the participation of the public.

Echoing this project, in June 2025, the MAC Museum of Contemporary Art of Marseille will present the film by Laure Prouvost, Deep See Blue Surrounding You / Vois Ce Bleu Profond Te Fondre, which was presented at the Venice Biennale in 2019 and integrated into the municipal collections.

In Marseille, Mucem presents 'In the fort, souls are', an exhibition by Laure Prouvost that unfolds as a poetic journey through Fort Saint-Jean. Known for her immersive video installations and surreal storytelling, Prouvost reimagines objects from the collection, transforming them into carriers of memory, magic, and metamorphosis.
