Jorinde Voigt opens at Kunsthalle Krems, Austria

Kunsthalle Krems presents the largest exhibition to date by German artist Jorinde Voigt, featuring very early pieces alongside new works made this year.

Meticulously conceived works on paper, Voigt’s drawings integrate her insights and experiences into a highly complex pictorial system. Every situation arises and develops from a multitude of pieces of information and impressions that proceed parallel to each other or within a certain time frame. Her drawings are objective analyses of her environment in conjunction with subjective thoughts and emotions – innovative “scores” that challenge and stimulate the viewer’s power of imagination.

Voigt’s exhibition at Kunsthalle Krems in Austria is divided into thematic areas to demonstrate how every new pictorial theme is subjected to a wide array of variations, and thus how the serial character in Voigt’s works becomes a crucial factor. The exhibition documents the development of her work from purely monochromatic drawings to the introduction of colour, collaged elements and the integration of intarsias of gold and copper leaf.

The exhibition has been curated by Stephanie Damianitsch and runs from 14 November 2015 – 21 February 2016.
