John Akomfrah in conversation at Secession, Vienna
30 January 2020
Vienna Secession in Austria will open a solo exhibition by John Akomfrah with an opening ceremony from 7pm on Thursday 20 February. Featuring the artist's three-channel installation Vertigo Sea (2015) amongst other films, the exhibition highlights Akomfrah's focus on climate change and scrutiny of the complex interconnections between humanity’s devastation of the natural world and its self-destructive impulses.
On Friday 21 February, Akomfrah will discuss his exhibition and wider practice with curator, critic and art-historian Osei Bonsu at the museum. The talk begins at 6pm and is free to attend.
