Christian Jankowski fills Berlin auction house with 'fakes'

5 April 2018

Christian Jankowski fills the Berlin auction house Grisebach with 'fake' works by Caravaggio, Hockney, Warhol and other iconic artists, painted by Chinese copyists. Instead of presenting exact copies, the scenes are composed of found images that Jankowski took from online sites.

The exhibition, which runs until 12 May, questions authorship of artworks – when a work be considered a forgery or a legitimate original – as well as market value.
