Centre Pompidou's 'Women in Abstraction' features works by Carmen Herrera

'Women in Abstraction' is a major new group exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris that sets out to write the history of the contributions of women artists to abstraction, with one hundred and six artists and more than five hundred works dating from the 1860s to the 1980s.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to discover artists who throughout their careers have lacked visibility and recognition beyond their home countries' borders, focuses on the breadth of the careers of artists who were often unjustly eclipsed from the history of art.

Two works by Carmen Herrera will be presented, including Flight of Colors #16, an energetic acrylic on canvas work created by the artist in 1949, at the start of her time living in Paris.
