Ceal Floyer at Aargauer Kunsthaus, Switzerland
29 January 2016
Characterised by a clear, minimalistically reduced formal language, Ceal Floyer creates work that permeates subtle irony. The relationship to language reveals itself as a central element of her installations involving sound, light, and video as well as of her works on paper. With verbal wit and a sense of the absurd, the artist turns meanings upside down. Visitors encounter humorous as well as meditative works in which Floyer ingeniously subverts everyday themes and subjects. In the seemingly negligible she opens up new ways of seeing and thinking for us.
Floyer adapts her works to the particular context – space, language, culture – of each exhibition venue. Organised in cooperation with the Kunstmuseum Bonn, which featured an exhibition of her work in October 2015, the exhibition at Aargauer Kunsthaus has been re-conceived through the combination of recent and older work.
A catalogue will be published and a limited artist's edition is issued in conjunction with the exhibition. For more information please refer to the Aargauer Kunsthaus's Webshop
The exhibition runs from 30 January - 10 April 2016. More information on the exhibition is available here.
