Blanton Museum commissions Carmen Herrera to create mural for its redesigned campus
13 January 2021
The Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas in Austin has invited Carmen Herrera to create a mural as part of an upcoming redesign of its campus. Alongside landscaping improvements and a dramatic canopy redefining the Museum's entrance plaza, Herrera's composition of 14 monumental green and white squares, entitled Verde que te quiero verde, will be prominently visible through the arches of the gallery building’s facade. Writing about the project, Herrera states: “The opportunity to do something in such a grand scale and in a site of such importance was very appealing, especially to the hidden architect in me.”
