Art & Language at MACBA
16 September 2014
The exhibition, entitled Art & Language: Uncompleted, features an extensive selection of some 800 works, objects and publications from the Philippe Méaille Collection. Méaille’s gathering of early works by Art & Language include many not seen since their first exhibitions such as Frameworks (1966–67), Secret Paintings (1967–68) and 100% Abstract (1968). In parallel, the Collection of Philippe Méaille has accumulated a vast number of documents that track the massive discursive output that has characterised Art & Language since its inception in Coventry in 1965.
After five years of restoration, study and documentation of this extraordinary body of works, this exhibition reveal one of the most exceptional artistic productions of the second half of the twentieth century.
Art & Language: Uncompleted is at Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), 19 September – 12 April 2015, http://www.macba.cat/
Art & Language will be exhibiting at Lisson Gallery London, 14 November – 17 January 2015.
