Lives and works in London
Drawing on sources as diverse as 17th century Japanese Edo painting, Yoruba divination codes, graphic musical scores and digital coding, Andrew Pierre Hart explores the symbiotic relationship between sound and painting. The artist calls the twilit, nebulous territory he populates with musicians and performers ‘Roho’, and considers this speculative cosmos a remedy for a damaged world.
Hart received an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London in 2019 and is now an Associate Lecturer in the MA Painting Programme. Recent exhibitions include Tiwani Contemporary, Lagos, Nigeria (2023); LVH, Palazzo Barbaro, Venice, Italy (2022); Parafin, London (2022). He was included in the group exhibition ‘Mixing It Up: Painting Today’, Hayward Gallery, London (2021) and he unveiled a new commission at the Whitechapel Gallery, London in February, 2024.
